Itchfest XV preview

Vanderbilt's Justin Miller with the nice sky.

Right on cue: A fall college ultimate tournament featuring several Bama Section teams this weekend.

I spoke earlier about this being the time of year, generally considered the college ultimate preseason, when college tournaments begin to spring up around the country. And lookie here, a college tournament this weekend featuring six teams from the Bama Section.

Itchfest XV, hosted in Nashville by the guys from Vanderbilt, kicks off the college ultimate preseason this weekend. In addition to the two Vanderbilt teams (Vandy A & B) attending the tourney, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulane and Rhodes will crash the action.

In Pool A, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt B will face off on Saturday. Pool D, as Marvin pointed out, is rife with Bama Section goodness: Ole Miss, Rhodes and Tulane all will have a chance to square off on Saturday.

Now this is even more interesting because it will be the first meeting between Tulane and Ole Miss since Bama Sectionals last year. And if you all remember correctly, Tulane upset top-seeded Ole Miss on Saturday at sectionals which helped put Tulane in the semifinals against Alabama. Ole Miss, meanwhile, was left out of contention for the title despite being the tournament’s No. 1 seeded team, but did end up finishing second.

An early shot at revenge may be on the mind of the boys from Oxford this weekend.

It should be a good start to the preseason, so stay tuned to the blog for scores and a recap of the action. If you are heading to Nashville this weekend, take some pictures/videos and send ’em over to me to post here at Bama Secs!
